PEPA QUINTEIRO IS APPOINTED ACADEMIC OF SANT JORDI
PEPA QUINTEIRO IS APPOINTED ACADEMIC OF SANT JORDI
Yesterday, Wednesday June 9, the solemn public session took place at theCatalan Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi, where Pepa Quinteiro Giner was appointed as Sant Jordi academic.
The event took place in the Llotja de Mar in Barcelona and it was chaired by His Excellency Mr. Josep Muntañola Thornberg. The gallerist and academic Josep Canals made the official presentation.
The event was attended by Mrs. Montserrat Caelles, Councilor for Promotion of the city of Reus, on behalf of the Most Illustrious Mayor of Reus; Mr. Jordi Barnadas, representing the GAC; family and friends, respecting capacity limitations and hygiene and safety measures.
In her speech, Pepa Quinteiro spoke of the importance of art galleries as open spaces that want to bring art closer to the public and of the need to strengthen the network of art galleries throughout the territory. To achieve greater participation from society, she asked to promote art education and the collaboration of institutions, private companies and the media. He also reflected on how digitization has allowed the expansion of culture globally, but the presence, fundamental for the contemplation of art, has been lost.
Throughout the gallery's history, an important work has been carried out to disseminate art in the territory and to promote new artists. Anquins is one of the Baix Camp's reference art galleries and in recent years we have internationalized it through the Internet and international art fairs. The appointment as an academic represents a recognition of all this work.
