MARTA DURAN
Marta Duran Quintana
Mataró, 1955
"Reiteration and choice can always appear to be arbitrary or obsessive. The painter chooses blue and insists on using it, we need to remember some thoughts that Kandinsky made about this colour: ‘The deeper the blue becomes, the stronger it calls man towards the infinite, awakening in him a desire for the pure and, finally, for the supernatural… The brighter it becomes, the more it loses its sound, until it turns into silent stillness and becomes white.’ Marta Duran has not chosen blue mindlessly, but has done it because of this colour’s content. Thus, it is the colour that binds the exterior with the interior, nature with spirit."
