"... For an artist, it is always late to be anything but an artist ...." Fernando Lozano, 2013 BIOGRAPHY: Olvega (Spain), 1958. Fernando Lozano studied at the School of Applied Arts in Ciudad Real and in the Tarragona School of Applied Arts, both in Spain. When he was 18 years old he was the youngest artist who exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Tarragona. Throughout the time he has exhibited in many areas of Europe and America such as Bremen, Florence, Cuba, the Caribbean or the Havana and also in galleries and catalan cities such as Reus, Valls, Cambrils and Barcelona. He has received numerous awards such as finalist Mariano Fortuny Medal Reus (1977), 1st National City Prize of Amposta (1979), Signe Prize from Rigger’s School in Tarragona (1983), 1st prize Ceferí Olive in Reus (1998), and listed in the XXI Joan Miró Prize in Barcelona (1982), among other awards in Ciudad Real, Madrid or Castellón. He is a sculptor, painter and writer. This versatile artist has been a great traveler in recent years and closely linked to the Caribbean, where he established his main source of creativity and inspiration since 2001. It was in this places where he wrote "Cherries", a gay and romantic novel. Since 1973 he is producing works of art, and because of this he has gone through diferent pictorical phases. Their intimate and imaginative works turn around homosexuality. His works have a remarkable use of color, that can remind us the Fauvism, but updated to the world of today.
