My work approaches what we could call New Figuration, a form of representation in which reality is turned into some sort of “fantastic” abstraction. I work on that direction along with my personal feelings, which refer to each particular series. On the other hand, it must be said that influences are important in the process of a painter, but because of the fact that when you travel a path that approaches your referents, you try to find yet a different junction that connects you to them. In my case, I pay a lot of attention to CY Twombly, Jean-Michel Basquiat or Grup Cobra, among others.
Could you tell us about your creative process?
Depending on the series I am working on, my creative process is based on a series of visual, mental, literary and, sometimes, photographic procedures. I reflect what is real on a personal and sometimes oneiric world, departing above all from stories, memories and pictures.

How has your work evolved throughout the years?
It started at first as experimentation, as if I slowly chose a personal way of my own. Once I found a path derived from my influences, I evolved towards an abstraction/new figuration, even if it is true that, after long years, I have returned to my earliest motivations, though I now face them, of course, with more experience and content.
